GMC Sierra

Even though the GMC Sierra 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado share the same platform, the GMC side is most often positioned as the more upscale option. The Sierra nameplate has been associated with GMC’s pickups since the late 1980s and for most of its storied history it has remained essentially the same. The styling has changed occasionally to keep up with the times, but the Sierra still has strong roots that hark back to the old days.

It started as a no-frills workhorse on ranches, farms and construction sites; today it has become equally popular as the family car able to handle long weekends, picnics and pleasure craft tow. Versions of the Sierra seat up to six passengers.

An electronic trailer sway control, hill-start assist, power door locks, and cruise control became standard in 2012. For 2013, the Sierra got a new powertrain grade-braking feature to prevent the brakes from overheating when traveling downhill. Exterior colors Sonoma Red and Heritage Blue were introduced.

The used GMC Sierra offers a surprisingly pleasant driving experience with light but precise steering and a quiet cabin. The added muscle starts showing with the 5.3-liter engine and it can get the Sierra through any work and load with ease.

The front seats for the used GMC Sierra are quite comfortable, the SLE came with bucket seats as an option, the rear seats of the crew cab models are very spacious - entry and exit to the rear is great thanks to the rear doors that swing a full 170 degrees. The seats can be folded down completely flat too, allowing for easy-load cargo.

The Sierra's standard electronic stability system includes rollover mitigation technology. GM says its seat belt pretensions activate during rear impacts. Safety features include:

  • Four-wheel antilock brakes
  • Traction control
  • Side curtain airbags
  • Front-seat side-impact airbags
  • Available OnStar alerts authorities after a crash
  • Available rear parking sensors
  • Available backup camera

The used GMC Sierra has hill-start control, trailer sway control, stability control, and anti-lock disc brakes as standard. Side curtain and front side airbags are optional, along with a rearview camera. The standard electronic stability system of the Sierra also gets rollover mitigation technology. Available safety features include a backup camera and an OnStar system to automatically alert authorities in case of an accident.

The Safety ratings for the Sierra come in extremely high. In government crash tests, the used GMC Sierra received an overall score of four stars (out of five). It earned four stars for overall frontal crash protection and five stars for overall side crash protection.

Nissan Altima

Looking to purchase a Used Nissan Altima? Consider this: it was the 4th best selling car in the US in 2014 at 303,313 vehicles sold. This is a fantastic statistic for two reasons. One, it is such a fantastic car it outsells its segment competition. Two, you are probably not going to have too much trouble finding one in good condition that you will fall in love with.

In addition, the used Nissan Altima has always been a bit of a sleeper that is overshadowed by the Accord and the Camry. Again, if everyone out there is clambering for those name plates, the more for you to choose from! It's a great used car “alternative.”

The redesigned 2013 Nissan Altima was the perfect example of how to improve an already-great product. This mid size was a winner among all the professional reviewers and there are certainly perfectly fine samples out there to make your own.

There wasn’t much change to the exterior size, customers have been very happy with where the Altima checks in on that, but they did give it a sportier more aggressive look.

The Nissan Altima has always had a quick acceleration and nimble handling with great fuel economy. If it’s a four-cylinder engine, the Altima has tracked 38 mpg on the highway, if you go with the V-6, fuel economy still comes in at a remarkable 32 mpg hwy.

The basic interior dash layout comes with clear gauges, a big easy-to-read LCD screen, and simple climate controls that you can operate without taking your eyes off the road. Nissan designed the front seats using data from a NASA study that determined optimum support points for the human body, and it seems to have worked, because the reviews on these seats have come in extremely positive over the years.

The newer NissanConnect system (since 2013) has features such as hands-free text messaging and Pandora Internet radio. The base-model stereo sounds great while the higher-end systems are easy enough to use and most of the cool functions (such as the ability to send addresses to the navigation system via Google) work independently of your phone.

If you’re looking for something older than 2013, the circa 2012 Nissan Altima Sedan models came in three different trims: 2.5 and 2.5 S, which both are powered by a 175-horsepower, 2.5L 4-cylinder engine; and the 3.5 SR, which gets a 270-hp, 3.5L V6. Both engines come with a continuously variable automatic transmission, but coupes can be had with a choice of the CVT or a 6-speed manual gearbox.

And…if you’re really looking sporty, the Altima is one of the few mid-size sedans to also be offered as a two-door coupe. It isn't just the same Altima with two fewer doors-- the coupe is actually several inches shorter, which lessons rear legroom but does give the coupe an entirely different roofline and a gorgeous, sporty appearance.

Buick LaCrosse

If you're looking for a used American made car with everything, luxury, styling, and nearly 40 mpg hwy, consider looking at a Buick LaCrosse. Even with the 4-cyl motor drivers give the LaCrosse very high reviews.  It's an absolutely beautiful vehicle equipped with up to date technology. Its only competition on the market is the Toyota Avalon Hybrid, when it comes to mpg and luxury. They were both priced about the same when new, so it sure couldn’t hurt to drive them both and decide from there.

Buick's largest sedan competes in the near-luxury segment, a limited field that is refined, smooth and extremely efficient. It may be competing in this class, but there's nothing just "near" about the luxury of its interior. The cabin is richly appointed with wood and chrome trim, attention to detail you'd expect from a full luxury sedan, the seats are supportive and cushy. Blue ambient lighting on some models and contrast-color stitching tie the cabin's design together.

Power delivery in the LaCrosse is smooth, and at cruising speeds, the LaCrosse has impressive road isolation, making for a pillowy ride and a hushed interior.

The newly standard IntelliLink (from 2013) multimedia system is refreshingly intuitive, and its large touch-screen buttons have a quick response time. If that's not your style, you can use the center dial and traditional push-buttons instead.

The 2013 Buick LaCrosse offers a comfortable ride and an inviting interior with unobtrusive fuel-saving technology. As in 2012, the 2013 LaCrosse came with a standard electric-motor-assisted eAssist four-cylinder engine or an optional V-6 engine.

The LaCrosse's curved, twin-cockpit setup makes the cabin look and feel expansive, with plenty of head and legroom in front. The Buick is roomy in back, as well with 40.5 inches of legroom roomy enough for two adults comfortably.

Safety

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave the Buick LaCrosse an overall score of five stars. In Insurance Institute for Highway Safety testing, the LaCrosse has received the agency's highest rating, Good, in all areas of testing thus far. The reverse-sensing system with backup camera is standard on all but the base model.

Come in to see our current inventory at Allentown and Bethlehem and let us tell you all about what makes this car so special. Our professionals can also help you identify any future inventory you may be dreaming about!
