The 2014 Nissan Sentra returns with a new engine and a more upscale look, inside and out.  The comfortable interior came back with a long list of desirable standard features and options. Of course it goes without saying that the Sentra is one of the best fuel economy vehicles out there. There are two sporty options, including the 200-horsepower SE-R Spec V, designed to appeal to driving aficionados. As you'd expect, the SE-R Spec V is a fun car with abundant acceleration and noticeably sharper handling.

The Sentra SE-R trim level came equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, performance-oriented suspension tuning, an aero-style body kit, cloth sport seats, stereo with color display and gauges that allow the driver to monitor things like oil pressure and g-forces during cornering; the SV adds to the features of the SE-R audio and cruise control buttons on its steering wheel, sportier interior trim and a six-speaker sound system. Outside, more power, higher-performance tires, an even firmer suspension with a lower ride height, larger front brakes, a rear spoiler, underbody aerodynamic deflectors and low-rolling-resistance tires, all of which promote slightly higher highway fuel efficiency.

The Sentra's interior features surprisingly spacious front seats in that small package that make it easy for even tall people to get into and out of the car.  A 60/40-split-folding rear seats comes with ample headroom and hip room for smart comfort. Luggage capacity is generous for the class. At 15.1 cubic feet, this Sentra's trunk volume is comparable to that of many midsize sedans.

Front seat lower cushion storage pockets, Auto Hazard Warning Signal and an updated NissanConnect with navigation, smartphone integration and voice recognition became standard. A sliding front armrest is also added for the SL grade and SV/SR Driver Packages. From a driver's perspective, the dashboard was acclaimed for its simple and well-defined design of instruments and controls.

For 2014, Nissan revised the tuning for the Sentra’s continuously variable transmission, steering and suspension.

What is the Xtronic? The Sentra uses a continuously variable transmission (CVT) which doesn’t use traditional fixed gear ratios. Rather it depends on two hydraulically-operated steel pulleys which are connected by a metal chain link. Upon acceleration, the sides of the v-shaped pulleys either push together or pull apart to move the position of the chain on the pulleys.

As the belt moves smoothly between the gear ratios, the Xtronic CVT doesn’t technically shift, which means that shifting lag when there’s a loss of power while shifting in an automatic transmission no longer occurs. This keeps the engine at its most efficient at all times, increasing fuel economy and keeping the transmission lasting for a very long time.

Nissan fully redesigned the Sentra in 2013 making changes to the car's design, improving fuel economy and enhancing space and new features as well as structural design changes that reduce noise within the cabin and improve ride comfort and handling. The Sentra for 2014 came with sharper handling making it incredibly enjoyable to drive through turns and of course easy to maneuver around town.

There are very good reasons to look at some of the SUV options under the GMC umbrella: the Acadia and it’s smaller relation, the Terrain. The Acadia is the larger of the two, seating up to 8, the Terrain accommodates up to 5.  Both are a more masculine, and possibly more practical, alternative to a minivan. We have premium used vehicles of both models with various option packages in excellent condition at Kelly Risk Free!

For 2013, both models were updated. For 2013, the GMC Acadia's biggest change was on the outside where a larger, new grille draws particular attention. The light facelift didn't alter its GMC-handsome looks at all; it's still arguably the best-looking of the line!

And it is big: 200.8 inches long, for comparison that makes it 3.7 inches longer than a Ford Explorer, 3.6 inches longer than a Nissan Pathfinder and 9.4 inches longer than a Honda Pilot. It also outweighs those three by 122 pounds, 471 pounds and 350 pounds, respectively. That is what a real, powerful SUV looks like.

LED daytime running lamps, a new taillight design, wraparound rear glass and a new rear spoiler added to the exterior changes. French stitching, and red ambient lighting upgraded the interior, the SLT received aluminum accents on the doors, dash and center console.

Standard Infotainment was stepped up across the GMC model line for 2013. Color Touch Radio with touch-screen control, auxiliary and USB inputs, a SiriusXM satellite radio tuner plus HD Radio compatibility, a photo viewer, and a built-in rear-vision camera were included.

With the standard 288-horsepower V-6 and front-wheel drive, this Acadia SLT is strong, its ride quality is smooth and quiet, and the new dual-flow damper shocks added for 2013 further adds to the self-assured handling.

The Acadia makes outstanding use of the potential space throughout the interior, superior seating comfort and a tight, quiet cabin. A third-row seat is included in all Acadia models, and whether you go for the captain's chairs or the bench, you get roomy, adult sized accommodations throughout. The second row will slide up for more space in the third row. With the third row up, the Acadia presents 24 cubic feet of room for cargo; maxing out by folding down the second and third row seats, you’ll be amazed at the 116 cubic feet of usable space.

In around town driving, the Acadia is exceptionally light-footed for its size. Light steering and excellent visibility add to a feeling of car-drive level naturalness that is an attractive point for those who spend more time running errands and carpooling than road tripping. It’s easy to park, easy to sense where all four corners of the vehicle are at all times.

Buick LaCrosse

One of the more appealing larger sedans cars out there is the Buick LaCrosse, a premium sedan that offers distinct styling, an elegant interior, impressive driving dynamics and provides additional interior room and trunk space over the midsize sedan.

The used Buick LaCrosse is a large luxury sedan that came available in five trim levels: Base, Leather, Premium 1, Premium 2 and Touring.

As you'd expect in a luxury sedan, you’ll find the LaCrosse's cabin takes comfort seriously. Seats are extraordinarily comfortable and supportive with plenty of leg, head and shoulder room. This careful design philosophy flows to the backseat as well. The available heated steering wheel and heated and ventilated front seats are an especially nice touch, the quiet interior also adds to the assured, upscale feel.

Base models come nicely equipped with 17-inch alloy wheels, full power accessories, dual-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming mirror, an eight-way power driver seat (with power lumbar), split-folding rear seatbacks, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, cruise control, OnStar, Bluetooth, an 8-inch display and a seven-speaker sound system with a CD player, satellite radio, an auxiliary audio jack, iPod/USB interface and smartphone app integration.

This Leather model comes with everything the base models offers but adds fog-lamps, heated mirrors, rear park assist, a rearview camera, leather upholstery, heated front seats, driver memory settings, FWD and an eight-way power front passenger seat.

Apart from adding some more standard features the 2013 version of the LaCrosse stayed its well-reputed course of luxury. The elegant cabin, with sweeping lines and rich surfaces set off by the generous use of LED accent lighting, remained in place for 2013. The tranquil, roomy cabin is accoutered with practical features and luxuries, ranging from a rearview camera to a dual-screen video entertainment system. Other notable options included a sunroof, rear side airbags and a rear seat video entertainment system with dual headrest-mounted screens.

Standard safety features for the LaCrosse include antilock disc brakes, stability and traction control, front-seat side-impact airbags and side curtain airbags; OnStar, which includes automatic crash notification, on-demand roadside assistance, remote door unlocking, stolen vehicle assistance and turn-by-turn navigation also standard. Rear-seat side-impact airbags and a blind-spot alert system were available as options.

In government crash tests, the LaCrosse scored five (out of five) stars overall, with five stars awarded for both frontal- and side-impact tests. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gave it its top "Good" rating in both frontal-offset and side-impact tests.
