Nissan Maxima

Nissan Maxima

Here are some handy tips that will have you saving fuel in no time.

  • Driving Fast Does Not Save You Fuel. Many drivers drive fast in hopes of saving the most precious resource of them all: time. What they do not know is that it comes with a cost. For example, driving 60 miles per hour instead of 70 can save you around 3 gallons of fuel over the duration of your trip.
  • When you have to make a brief stop in your Nissan Maxima, do not leave the car engine running, turn it off even if for a few minutes, it will be worth it when you save fuel which would otherwise be wasted.
  • When warming your Nissan maxima, make sure you do not take more than 40 seconds, this is important especially if you drive very fast around town.
  • The same goes for tire pressure. Your tire pressure determines the performance of the ride. It was noted by experts that right after tires were set to their suitable pressure the fuel economy boosted to 3.3 percent.
  • Do not let anything you do not need to occupy your trunk. Clean it out, the lesser the weight the better would be the fuel economy.
  • Check the air filters. Dirty air filters can be the reason for that fuel not being fairly used in your engine.
  • Make sure that windows are up if you want to save on fuel economy. If the weather is really pleasant, do not open the windows and cruise around the city, instead, go for a walk. However, putting your windows up considerably saves your fuel as the aerodynamics causes the engine lesser strain.
  • If your Nissan's engine is not knocking, then there is no need to buy higher-octane gas for your car. By buying higher-octane gasoline, you are not necessarily giving your car a treat. It does not make your Nissan Maxima or any other car for that matter go faster.

It only takes a bit changing of the driving style and vehicle maintenance to achieve fuel economy for your Nisan Maxima. If this is the first car you ever bought, it shouldn't be that hard to get used to implementing all the above pointers.

Hummer H3

Hummer H3

In the 80s, Hummer ownership was only limited to army and military personnel, and for good reason; they were too big to be used on the narrow roads of Allentown and Bethlehem. Eventually, Hummer caved into the public demand and gave the people what they wanted, a civilized version of the H1 i.e. the H2. Even though the H2 could be driven by any average citizen with a driving license, they were still too big and fuel hungry to be of any practical use. Even the most hardcore off roaders were put off by the sheer size and consumption of this thing.

As a final ditch attempt to win back customers, Hummer came up with the H3. The H3 essentially had all the qualities of a practical yet tough to the nails off roader. It was smaller than the H2 but was more powerful thanks to an upgraded engine. However, it still cost an arm and a leg, which contributed to the low sales and eventually demise of the model in 2010.

Even though Hummer may not have been commercially successful in Allentown and Bethlehem, we still feel it is the best off roader out there. We aren't implying that the Hummer was the fastest or the most powerful truck in the region; heck, it was slower than a Yaris, at a 0-60 time of 11 seconds.

But what it lacked in speed, it made up for on the off road playing grounds. This monstrous machine boasted an incredible road clearance of more than 9inches, meaning it could even travel through a shallow lake if you wanted it to. Add the huge off road tires and extreme wheel travel, and you"ve got yourself a truck that no one wants to mess with. The off road package further added to its off road prowess by supplementing it with a rear locking differential.

Sadly, the Hummer H3 went into demise by the end of 2010, also marking the end for the Hummer brand altogether. Though the Hummer may have been an excellent off roader, it was receiving loads of bad publicity due to the high carbon emissions it produced along with its fuel consumption.

If you are looking for a used Hummer H3 in Allentown and Bethlehem, we just happen to have one for an unbelievably low price of $16,999!

Used BMW 3 Series

The BMW 3 series has always held a certain allure to it, being the German brands top seller in Allentown and Bethlehem for more than a decade. It has, however, always been marketed at a higher than usual price. I contemplated buying a 3 series one too many times, but the budget constraints always held me back. So imagine my surprise when I came across a used BMW 3 series for just $2,940 at Kelly Risk Free.

Granted, it's a 1995 model, which means it's more than 19 years old, but really, for the price that this 3 series was going for, I couldn’t have asked for anything more. The 1995 model was also special to me because it was also used by Jason Statham in "Transporter", which is one of my favorite movies of all time.

So I drove down to Kelly Risk Free with my trusty mechanic Paul, made the full payment in cash and received the car within the hour. You may call it a hasty buy, but I just couldn't help it. Originally, I was just going there out of curiosity, but when I first saw that sleek beauty in metallic grey, I lost all sense of practicality.

Besides that, this dealership, primarily serving Allentown and Bethlehem, was also offering a 3 day money back guarantee, which was all the time I needed to iron out any mechanical issues that I could find in the 19 year old car.

I was so excited to get behind the wheel of one of these babies that I asked Paul to take our Ford back while I drove the BMW back home. The dealership had the courtesy of washing the car from tip to toe, even going as far as to clean the leather seats, which was quite tedious.

The initial ride was exactly as I had imagined it would be; smooth, powerful with a hint of excitement. It was like a sophisticated beast with a classy demeanor. I decided to test the waters and take it up to 80 miles an hour; just a slight roar could be heard, but it was still quieter than my Ford.

It's been three months now, and I still can't get enough of my used BMW 3 series. Even though this was one of the hastiest purchases I made, it all turned out well in the end.

Feel free to share your experiences with Kelly Risk Free. And if you are looking for a used BMW 3 series in Allentown, Philadelphia, Harrisburg and Bethlehem region, we just happen to have one in stock for less than $3000!

Used Luxury Cars

Here at Kelly Risk Free, we often get a lot of used luxury cars for sale that are more than 10 years old. While they cost an arm and a leg in their heyday, they go for less than 1/10th of their initial price ten years later. This makes them a great bargain for those looking for something out of the ordinary and within a short budget range. However, many prospective customers get turned off by the idea of owning a decade old car, mostly due to the reliability and mechanical issues that come with it. In this article, we'll explain to our customers the pros and cons of purchasing an older used car.

Old Cars in General

Consult with any automobile expert about the notion of buying a used car, and they will all say the same thing; it is safer to get a new car as compared to a used one. We wouldn't disagree on that, as a new car is definitely much safer. However, we wouldn't exactly call them a good bargain. You would be getting more peace of mind with a new car, but nothing more.

Think about it; a 2004 Mercedes C Class goes for around $5000 here in the Allentown and Bethlehem region. This is, by the way, a car that boasts luxury leather seats, beige interior, all sorts of fancy features and a powerful high performance engine. So what else can you get for the same price range? Well, there's actually nothing you can get. See, the cheapest new car in Allentown and Bethlehem is the Hyundai Elantra, which goes for around $10,000. And that's only the base version, which doesn't have any features other than the standard safety equipment and air conditioning.

It's All about Risk

You may think of buying a used car as an investment. It may or may not work out, depending on the condition of the car you are considering. To make a smart investment, you'll be checking the car thoroughly inside and out in order to minimize risk. Even if the car doesn't turn out to be everything you asked for, you may always sell it for close to the same price you bought it for. That's the beauty of a used car; for a new car, you will be suffering at least a 10% dip in value when selling it.

Having Car Issues?

At Kelly Risk Free, we believe in serving the customer even after a transaction has been made, which is why we provide them with customer support well after a car has been sold. We also believe that in order to ensure the longevity and proper performance of a car, the customer needs to be informed and ready to tackle any issues that they might face later on. In this article, we will be sharing some of the most common issues with cars in Allentown, Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Bethlehem, along with the proper remedial solution.

Car Won't Start Up

This is probably the most common issue that people face after 2-3 years of buying a car. What happens is that they push the key in the ignition and try to start, but the starter motor doesn’t start, and eventually dwindles. This is actually an issue with the battery, not the car's generator or starter motor like many people speculate. The motor needs a slight push by the battery to get the engine going. The problem may easily be solved by simply replacing the old battery with the new one.

Engine Making Clanking Noises

The second problem that people face is that their engine starts making some metallic grinding noises every now and then. While this may seem pretty serious, it's actually the car's way of saying that it's due for an oil change. See, if the engine oil isn't replaced for more than a few thousand kilometers, it starts accumulating dirt and other impurities. This is especially common considering Allentown and Bethlehem's humid, summer weather. To check whether the engine oil needs replacing, just remove the insert dip from the engine and examine the color. If it's pink or yellow, the engine oil is good to go. But if the oil is dark yellow or black, get it replaced right away.

Car Electronics Not Working

And finally, a problem that has been way too common in used BMWs is that the electronics start failing every now and then. While the most probably cause of this is faulty or damaged wiring, it is also possible that a fuse may have been damaged. In order to protect the electronics in a car, most modern models boast of a fuse box. So check and see if any of the fuses have been damaged. If so, there's your problem right there!
